Teeny.
Been doing some small but good works for game icons.

Well, I suppose it’s high time I put an actual update on here.
WORK:
Functionality work has pretty much wrapped up in the games testing company I’ve been in for the last while - probably won’t pick up again until March or April. So, I have applied for a new testing position with an initial three-month contract; however, it looks like they’re not going to get back to me for a few weeks.
I’ve contacted a few other places, including Brighton and Hove City College, who have game testing apprenticeships going. The only problem there is that they require a minimum of a C grade in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent; through apathy and tension, Muggins here didn’t pass his Maths Leaving. But I’ll give it a go all the same, it can’t hurt. Another job I’m considering applying for is a content writer position with an MMOG development company.
HOME:
Looks like we’re moving out of Sparkgeezer Towers. Sorry, I mean decentralising. The landlord is looking to sell the flat, so we’re looking into three-bedroom houses a bit further out of town. Of course, this means there’s going to be a hell of a negotiating session; myself and Punky’s flatmate is undoubtedly going to want the master bedroom for herself and the small bedroom as a computer room for the “communal computer” (which we don’t have - Punky’s just really nice about letting her take over our bedroom and use his computer).
These things are, naturally, unacceptable. The couple are getting the master bedroom; and if I get a permanent position, then I want us all to pay equal shares on the rent (depending on room quality, of course) and have the smallest bedroom as my own music/programming room.
MUSIC:
Things are moving forward slightly with the music-making. I’ve recently had one of my songs (Signal in the Noise) re-recorded and remixed by a friend who’s studying music production in college. It’s pretty nifty, very open sound; I definitely approve.
There are also new songs up on the TBiE page; “Glide” and “Nitelighf’s Theorem” are new album-bound demos, and the album “Bold Ghost game music” contains some of the compositions I’ve been trying for my RPG projects.
GAME DESIGN:
I think I’m finally starting to “get” Ruby. It’s such a simple language overall, and using the added libraries available with RGSS is just making it so much easier to work on the design end of things for the games. I’m putting my focus into two primary projects; the first is a tactical battle RPG with the RP characters of the Axions as the playable cast. The primary battle system is one that was publicly released, but I’m writing addons/redefs to change it more to suit the game I want to make. The second is a more “traditional” three-member-party-based RPG, but I want to write something similar to a conditional turns system. I already know how I’m going to work the core turn calculation, it’s just writing an interface between that and the standard battle system that’s irking me.
Apart from that, the major obstacle in the game department is my lack of ability at spriting; but that’s something that won’t be a HUGE problem for the moment, I have placeholder graphics available.
OTHER STUFF:
I have much thinking to do on the topic of past lives.
Anyways, that’s the end of that update.

Bad, bad day today. Tired and over-emotional, plus I think I may be coming down with the evil gastric and/or flu virus that Punky had. (Did you know that the proper, Latin plural of virus is virus, pronounced “vi-roos”? Bet you didn’t.) I closed my eyes earlier and the backs of my eyelids were made of torn card and houndstooth. Bed is in order.
Me sad. It looks like I’m going to have to give up completely on trying to make anything resembling a game for the moment. It’s taking up too much of my time at the weekends, and because of this is causing trouble with my relationship. Not to mention how utterly frustrating it is trying to get anything done.
Still, there are some things to cheer me back up. The Great FMC Rewrite continues apace, with Joy of Coffee being the latest to fall before my might. The list of completed FMC musics written entirely by myself and the Sailor Boy has grown significantly, and they’re better than ever (even if I do say so myself).
Anyways. Bit rubbishy today, but keeping moving.
